Staking is one of the key, if not the most valuable roles one can play in supporting the decentralized blockchain. Since blockchains need to validate transactions, almost all leading blockchains today use Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism to function. By staking tokens on the network, you not only support the blockchain but are rewarded with more earned tokens. This makes staking crypto one of the most popular methods of earning on your crypto.

With Frontier Wallet, you can easily search for various native opportunities on chains, stake/unstake, and claim rewards directly within your wallet. By securely staking and tracking your staking investments, Frontier Wallet makes it possible for you to start earning on your otherwise idle crypto with limited risk.

Put simply, when you stake a coin, you are rewarded with more of the same coin for the duration you stake your assets. The APR (annual percentage rate) and the investment duration determine the rewards earned.

Here is a step-by-step guide to getting started with staking on Frontier Wallet

Finding opportunities

  1. First, you need to switch to any chain in your Frontier Wallet that has native support for staking.

  2. You can do this by tapping on the top left dropdown list above your wallet address and selecting the desired chain.

  3. Once the wallet is selected, select the ‘Stake’ option on the top of your home screen.

  4. This will open the ongoing staking opportunities on the chain with the corresponding APR reward.

  5. Once you select the token you wish to stake, you will open the ‘Validators’ screen, where you can browse the various validators and their uptime, commission %, number of tokens delegated, and rewards. Choose the validator you wish to use to proceed.

  6. On the next screen, you can enter the number of tokens you wish to stake. If you wish to stake all your tokens, tap on ‘Set max.’

  7. Once you enter the number of tokens, Frontier will calculate the projected gains daily, monthly, and yearly. This is estimated based on the present APR and tokens you stake.

  8. Read any notes associated with the staking cooldown period. Once you are ready, select ‘Review’ to proceed.

  9. In the ‘Review transaction’ screen, you will see a summary of the token, its value, your chosen validator, and the corresponding Network Fee. You can modify the network fee (please note any changes may result in the transaction failing).

  10. Frontier will verify you have enough of the native token to pay the gas fees, and once you are ready, select ‘Approve’ to proceed. (This is only applicable on some tokens).

  11. You will be prompted to enter your Frontier passcode in this step.

  12. Once approval is completed, select ‘Stake’ after reviewing the latest gas fee.

  13. You will again be prompted to enter your Frontier passcode to verify the staking request.

  14. You request will be submitted to the blockchain, and you will be notified once it is completed.

  15. Once complete, you will be able to see the staked tokens in your positions tab (if available), or at the ‘Staked’ tab under ‘Stake’ on your wallet home screen.

To unstake, you need only follow the following steps:

  1. Open the tokens you have staked by either selecting the ‘Positions’ tab (if available) in your wallet or selecting ‘Stake’ on your wallet home screen, and then selecting the ‘Staked’ tab.

  2. Select the validator from where you wish to unstake tokens from the list.

  3. This will open a summary of your staking status. Including APR, unclaimed rewards, validator commission, and unstake period. Below, you will see the number of staked tokens with their present market value and the total rewards you have earned.

  4. To unstake your tokens, you can select the ‘Unstake’ option in this screen.

  5. You will be prompted to enter the ‘Unstake qty’ and the corresponding balance of tokens you have staked. Once quantity is entered, you can select ‘Unstake’ below to continue.

  6. You might be prompted with a reminder at this point. If you are sure, select ‘Yes, Unstake’ or cancel to return to the previous screen.

  7. If you choose to proceed with unstaking, you will land on the final ‘Review transaction’ screen. Here, you will see a summary of the wallet, the tokens you are unstaking with their present market value, the validator, and gas fees.

  8. You may choose to make changes to the gas fees at your own risk and then proceed by selecting ‘Unstake’ below.

  9. You will be prompted for your Frontier passcode at this stage. Once entered, your unstake request will be submitted to the blockchain.

  10. On completion, the unstaked tokens will appear in your wallet home screen under your ‘Tokens’ tab.

As you can see, staking and unstaking is incredibly easy with Frontier Wallet. You can earn today by choosing the integrated staking options on Frontier today.
