In this article, we will discuss two ways of securing your wallet with Frontier: using a passcode/password and biometric authentication.

Passcode on Frontier Wallet Mobile App:

The Frontier passcode is first set up right after installing the mobile application. Once you have agreed to the terms and conditions, you will be prompted to add a 6-digit passcode. This passcode will be used for logging in to your wallet and performing transactions.

By enabling the Frontier passcode, you make it difficult for unauthorized parties to gain access to your wallet, transfer funds, or change your PIN in case of device theft. Since Frontier is a non-custodial mobile wallet, users have the sole responsibility of securing their funds. It is important to choose a passcode that is easy to remember and to store it somewhere safe. Frontier is committed to deploying the necessary tools to make it easy for users to safely protect their crypto assets.

Biometric Authentication on Frontier Wallet Mobile App

You can set up biometric authentication on your Frontier Wallet as long as your device hardware supports either fingerprint or face unlock. To enable biometric authentication on Frontier's mobile app, follow these steps:

  1. Head over to the More tab.

  2. Under the Security section, toggle on the Biometric / Passcode.

  3. After you turn the toggle on, you will prompted to use your Biometric.

  4. You can now use your Face ID or Fingerprint unlock instead of entering your passcode every time to authenticate transactions and approvals in your Frontier wallet.

Password on Frontier Wallet Extension

It is mandatory to set up a password while setting up your wallet on Frontier Wallet Extension.

The password is required when you are logging in, connecting with dApps, or performing transactions.

You can change your password easily with these steps:

  1. On Frontier Extension, go to Settings tab on the top left corner.

  2. Click on Security.

  3. Click on Change Password.

  4. Fill out the Current Password, New Password, and Confirm Password fields.

  5. Your new password is updated.

  6. You can also set an Auto-lock timer in the security tab based on your preference. For e.g., if you choose to go with an auto-lock window of 15 minutes, you won't have to enter your password to unlock your wallet for 15 minutes after the first authentication.
